CSUSB Furlough Days

This school year, CSUSB has been asked by the state to hold furlough days in which school in suspended for that day. In addition each member of faculty will have three additional furlough days in which there won't be any class. For those of you who aren't good in math, there are only twenty class sessions each quarter. This cut wipes out 25% of class periods. Who knows that in the near future they might adjust unit credits because of the disruption of total class hours

I am all about getting days of from school. However, when a business cancels days of service shouldn't you get a pro-rated rebate for the day of no service. On the contrary they are raising prices. AND if teachers really cared about teaching students, they would teach anyway on the "furlough day." Teachers are paid salary and not "by the hour." Just my two cents.....

So instead I get to take my wife to Disneyland on two extra days each quarter this school year :)

My dad's furlough days are on Fridays, when he doesn't need to be at work anyway.

When are you going to Disneyland? Like calling her your wife, huh?

they are raising school prices yet cutting teachers wages. My dad didnt get paid at all for teaching summer school..but he still did it. So dont be quick to judge.

Kaitlan - Your dad is defintely an exception to the rule as are several others. It's more of the teacher's union that made the deal that is more to blame.

Cutting the wages is unfortunate. Our nursing program is losing too many teachers because of pay cuts and red tape stuff.

Karin - I think we are going to Dland on Friday Oct. 2 in the early afternoon.... Supposed to be PERFECT weather
